Bernd Flessner, the most successful German pro windsurfer has successfully crossed the German Bight. He sailed the 70 miles (130 km) from Norderney to Sylt, on his windsurf board, in only four hours.
Flessner kicked off at 12:45 from the beach in front of Hotel Georgshhe, on Norderney. After four agonizing hours on the open sea, Bernd got exhausted but happy to step ashore, near the restaurant "Kap Horn", in Hrnum, Sylt, at 16:45.
In the early minutes, the wind was light with only 12 knots and he was not always planning. During his first break, his sail tore due to a contact with the boat. Despite the damage, he continued his way.
